What our verification badge means

Every Indian platform says its therapists are "verified". We show you exactly what we checked, including the registration number, which you can look up yourself.

How a profile earns the badge

    It starts with credentials

    Before anything appears publicly, the professional shares what we need to check: a registration number for registered professions, degree documents for counsellors.

    We check the register

    Psychiatrists against the NMC / State Medical Council rolls; clinical and rehabilitation psychologists against the RCI's CRR register: number, name, and validity, looked up at the source.

  3. 3

    We read the documents

    Counsellor degrees are checked against UGC-recognised institutions, and the name on the profile is cross-checked against the submitted documents.

  4. 4

    A person signs off

    No automated badges. A human reviews each file, and every approval is recorded in an audit log we can stand behind.

What the badge says for each profession

Psychiatrists

We verify an active registration with the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council against the Indian Medical Register, plus the MD/DNB Psychiatry degree and photo ID. The registration number is displayed on the profile.

Clinical Psychologists

"Clinical Psychologist" is a legally protected title in India. We verify an active CRR registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India, including its validity date, plus the M.Phil/Psy.D and photo ID. The CRR number is displayed on the profile.

Rehabilitation Psychologists

Rehabilitation Psychologists are registered on the same RCI CRR register under their own professional category. We verify the active CRR registration and the M.Phil/PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology, and display the CRR number on the profile. Their badge reads "Rehabilitation Psychologist", never "Clinical Psychologist", which is a distinct protected title.

Counsellors

India has no statutory register for counsellors yet, so we do the diligence ourselves: a Master's degree in psychology from a UGC-recognized university, a minimum experience floor, and a screening conversation. These profiles are labelled "Counsellor, degree-verified" and never "Clinical Psychologist".

What about “trauma-informed” and other approaches?

Approaches like trauma-informed, queer-affirmative, or person-centred practice are ways of working, not credentials any register can verify, so we don't badge them. You'll find them where they belong: in each professional's own words on their profile, and in the areas they work with. Our badge covers what can be verified: who they are and the qualifications they hold.

Check it yourself

Psychiatrist registrations can be searched on the NMC's Indian Medical Register; clinical and rehabilitation psychologist CRR numbers on the RCI register. If a number on our site ever fails to check out, tell us, that profile comes down while we investigate.
